This is love. This is partnership. And this is life for my dear friend Antoinette who rescued Jakob nine years ago. Antoinette created Rettungs-Haus Shepherds Inc., a German Shepherd rescue, and Jakob has been a solid, steady partner throughout the journey. Jakob is now 10 years old, he has lost his vision, but is still going strong.
Rescue is Hard
Rescue is hard, often it’s cruel, and it’s NOT for the faint of heart. It takes its toll on those who put their hearts and souls into saving dogs, and can have a serious effect on a person’s health and well-being.
Antoinette has seen so much, I know it weighs heavy on her heart. I’m thankful she has her Jakob (and Zeus and Isabella). There’s no comfort like that of a dog. They don’t judge or ask questions, dogs are just happy to be with you through it all.

If you’re looking for a four-legged friend, please consider adopting. If you don’t have a shelter nearby, look for a rescue organization. Some are breed-specific, some save older or special needs dogs, and others save a variety of dogs. Not only will you help save a life, chances are your life will change for the better.

You save these dogs, and you change peoples’ lives after adopting these incredible souls. Not only do you rescue, you help dog owners with obedience classes. What a blessing you are to the community, to the people who love their dogs and don’t want to give up when it gets tough. You’re the reason so many German Shepherd Dogs are living a happy, full life.
